Mata Mata - destination shopping with munchkins and mums in mind

Mata Mata is a stand alone destination shopping trip with munchkins and mums in mind.

From choosing their own novelty chair and special DVD to an array of fun books, toys and playful distractions it’s the best way to make having the chop a fun outing for kids rather than a tedious task that you all dread

Offering a variety of services including face painting, temporary tattoos, beauty treatments and hair workshops and a dedicated space for private parties it turns a simple visit to the salon for a haircut into hours of fun.

It’s all about the little ones at Mata Mata but of course ‘Happy Mummy = Happy Bunny and so we asked this children’s salon proprietor Wendy Pau to let us in on her destination shopping trip tips.

Turns out right next door to Mata Mata is the cleverly named Jimmy’s Shoes, ideally located because according to Wendy lots of parents kill two birds with one stone and get shoes fitted (at Jimmy’s ) and and hair cuts at Mata Mata on the same day.

When Wendy was setting up the salon, after she finished her paperwork in store she’d head across the road to treat herself to Italian nibbles at Food Lab.

She usually sits in the window because her son Madison is crazy about cars and it’s the perfect spot for them to watch the ‘vroom vrooms’ and the world go by together. Once sufficiently fed and watered, Wendy recommends a wander up Cross Street leading to Upper to browse for toys at After Noah: great choice since that’s exactly where Lili from Food Lab finds cute curiosities to keep all her little visitors entertained.
